Every year on New Year’s Eve at 11:45 PM, the Daigoma ceremony is held at Rinno-ji Temple (輪王寺). This powerful ritual involves the smoke and flames of the goma fire, lit by yamabushi (mountain priests), carrying prayers to dispel misfortune and wish for good luck. This beautiful sight is very popular among tourists.
Access is about a 7-minute bus ride from JR Nikko Station (日光駅) or Tobu Nikko Station (東武日光駅), followed by a 10-minute walk from Kanbashi bus stop. Please note that buses do not operate late at night.
